Outlook Express Configuration

Below are instructions for setting up Outlook Express to check your CIA/Host1 mailbox using the built-in wizard:

  • Choose Tools, Accounts

    • Outlook Express screenshot

  • Click on the Add> button and choose Mail

  • Enter your full name to appear on your mail and click Next
  • Leave "I already have an e-mail address I'd like to use" select and enter your email address in the format login@host1.com.au, then click Next
  • Configure the servers:

    • - The incoming mail server is a POP3 server
    - The incoming mail (POP3) server is "mail.host1.com.au"
    - The outgoing mail (SMTP) server is also "mail.host1.com.au" (unless you are dialed up to another ISP, in which case you will need to use their SMTP server - e.g. mail.otherisp.com.au)

  • Click Next
  • Configure your account details:
    • - Enter your Account name which is your user or login name
    - Enter your Password and click Next
  • Click Finish, that's it!
  • Close the Accounts dialog box

    • To check mail press Control-M, or choose Tools, Send and Receive Mail
